01 INSURANCE
We hold public and contractual liability insurance. In many cases clients insure their works themselves, and where they do not, we can arrange the insurance at the client’s request on a nail-to-nail basis with first-rank insurers. The cover of this type of policy is equivalent to all-risks and is valid in the following situations:
- On display: only when the item in question is exhibited with the consent of both parties.
- In transit: covers all packing, unpacking, loading, unloading, handling and installation operations, transit stores and the journey itself
- At customs: should the cultural property leave the country it will have to pass through customs, and it may remain there for an undefined period, which can be hours or days.
- Other cases: the premises of outside restorers and packers are included, provided this is set out in the loan agreement or, failing that, the lender has been consulted.
02 CUSTOMS
To move works of art beyond our borders a series of legal requirements must be met, in order to prevent illegal trade and the plundering of cultural heritage. Spanish Act 16/1985 on Spanish Historical and Artistic Heritage (PHAE) and Royal Decree 111/1986 set out clearly when a work of art or movable asset is considered to belong to the PHAE and when it is an Asset of Cultural Interest, both under the protection of the State. PACK-ART can carry out any customs formalities required, handling the processing of export and import licences
